The group packed the hall at Robertson Park to celebrate the inauguration of the Lord Ganesha idol.
The idol will be used during future gatherings of the community as the centrepiece for prayer, songs and ceremonies, as is Hindu tradition.
Orange Hindu Association President, Binu Nair, said Hindus consider Lord Ganesha as a holistic start towards the fulfillment of dreams.
Members from the World Hindu Council - Australia and volunteers from Hindu temples across Sydney travelled to Orange for the event alongside priests from the Sydney Murugan Temple, who conducted the rituals of the Hindu ceremony.
Mr Nair said on behalf of the Orange Hindu Association Inc he was pleased to have been able to extend the invitation for Saturday's festivities outside the Hindu community.
"In some parts of the world religion causes division, but here in Orange we are stressing the importance in maintaining our diversity," he said.
"The Hindu community commits to engage in activities, that will ensure the harmony and unity in our community in Orange is well preserved.
"Part of what makes Orange such a wonderful place, for families from across the world to live is its welcoming and inclusive attitude."
