Phil Gould will MC a mental health ball run by Brothers 4 Recovery, an Orange-based mental health charity which aims to decrease stigma around mental health issues and tackle suicide and alcoholism.
Brothers 4 Recovery director Chris Grevsmuhl said it was exciting to be able to invite Gould and "coach whisperer" Bradley Charles Stubbs to Orange for the charity's biggest fundraiser.
[We want to] take down the stigma about mental health, trauma, suicide and look for outcomes to potentially get people well again.
- Chris Grevsmuhl
Mr Stubbs has worked with the Sydney Roosters, Sydney FC, the Wallabies and a swathe of high-profile clubs across a variety of sports, and Mr Grevsmuhl said the elusive mentor would be giving the keynote speech.
Mr Grevsmuhl, himself a former Panthers, Titans and Rabbitohs star, said the gala night would be based around supporting mental health and suicide prevention, and the money from that will go towards Bothers 4 Recovery's upcoming support programs across the Central West.
Brothers 4 Recovery, which was founded by Orange local and CYMS player Steve Morris, focuses on "lived experience" workshop and presentations to raise awareness around drugs, alcohol, mental health and suicide prevention.
"We're just about to start our resilience project which will see us targeting a lot of communities to help build mental resilience and take down the stigma about mental health, trauma, suicide and look for outcomes to potentially get people well again," Mr Grevsmuhl said.
He said the programs weren't necessarily targeted at specific groups such as sporting clubs, but instead trying to encompass as many people as possible.
"If we can target a specific bunch we will be aren't going to segregate it to certain people, we want it open to everyone in the community," Mr Grevsmuhl said.
The ball will raise funds for Brothers 4 Recovery's outreach programs across Orange and the Central West, and will be held in the ballroom at the Hotel Canobolas on September 26.
Full details for the event are still being finalised, but tickets and more information will be available from the end of next week online at the Brothers 4 Recovery Facebook page.
