AUTHORITIES are investigating how train track to Orange's north was damaged, forcing rail services using the line to be suspended while repair work is carried out.

John Holland Rail staff first noticed the damaged tracks between Orange and Stuart Town at around 8am on Tuesday.
Transport for NSW informed police, the Office of Transport Safety Investigations, the Office of the National Rail Safety Regulator, the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads and Minister for Transport and Roads.
It is not known how Country Rail Network-managed track came to be damaged.
Transport for NSW stated that no services will operate on the line until investigations have concluded and repairs have been completed.
In the interim, coaches will replace train services between Orange and Dubbo in both directions.
