UNDER 11s
Pride Park welcomed the Orange City under 11s with blue sky and sunny conditions for Sunday's gala day, and the boys were pumped to play at their home ground and come up against a tough Millthorpe Mozzies outfit first-up.
From the kick off the spectators knew they were in for a mouth-watering contest, the ball moved from side to side with some bruising defence. In the end the Lions ran out winners.
Next assignment was a slick Wellington Redbacks outfit who knew how to throw the ball around, in a see-sawing battle the Redbacks ran out winners .
Our third game was against a monstrous Dubbo Rhinos pack which saw a intense forward battle heavy defence from both sides that took its toll on some of the players from both packs Orange City running away winners.
Next we battled against The Forbes Platypi, both teams keen for a win Forbes surprised City with a couple of early tries. After half time it was a completely different Orange City attitude and they managed to scrape home for another win.
Our last assignment was a local derby against Orange Emus in a torrid affair which had the crowd on the edge of their seats, Orange City ran out victors.
All the boys played their hearts out and are improving every week which is pleasing for the coaching staff.
We would like to thank the referees and volunteers which made the day a success. The Orange City Wallas also raised $500 to help our friends at Orange Emus out with the recent shed fire.

UNDER 13s
The Chemmart Orange City Under 13s predicted a tough match, but their tenacity secured them win on Saturday against Wellington.
Koby Bryan came out flying, chasing down the opposition and, with Dominic Segger and Hayden Buesnel, stopped the Redbacks creating any genuine chances to cross the stripe.
The front row of Alex O'Brien, Brody Duncan and Harrison Wood were in fine form, supported by Tama Nixon and Charlie Poole, the tight five constantly pressured the Redbacks in the scrums.
The speed and strength of Harrison Kukla saw him open scoring for the Lions in the 22nd minute, the half-time score locked at 5-all.
Andrew Ingham and Temana Te Rupe spread the ball wide off a line-out steal by James Walker, and Kukla again flew over the line, Angus Tremain lining the posts up perfectly for the conversion.
An attacking raid triggered by Zac Shannon saw Jasmine Anthony get her side into the right side of the half way line, Lachlan Newman sneaking through the opposition for five points, successfully converted by Tremain.
Trixie Ward and Madison Fuller ploughed through the Redback defence, and Ilka Gordon and Alexa McKinnon Braid defended their respective wings.
A late steal by O'Brien saw the ball flick through to Tremain who crossed at the 60-minute mark and then converted his own try.

Not long after the restart Orange City regained the ball from some great defensive work for Jarryd Walmsley and Henry Bracey, then attacked Forbes' line. After some good work from the forwards Archie Sippel was able to cross in the corner.
Orange City went into the break trailing 7-5.
Not long after the restart of the second half Henry Bouffler regained the ball at the breakdown and stepped his way through Forbes defence and scored a try.
For the next 20 minutes Orange City were stuck in their own half and defended strongly on numerous occasions to prevent Forbes scoring, late in the second half after consistent penalties a Forbes forward barged over, pushing the Platypi in front 14-10.
From the restart Sean Carpenter set up a great kick for Harry West to regather, Blair Ward than picked up the ball from back of the ruck and stepped his way through Forbes defence to score.

AUSTRALIAN RULES
ORANGE TIGERS
UNDER 17s
For a number of years the Orange Tigers have been on the receiving end of some heavy defeats from the Bathurst Giants. In fact, it has been over three years since the Tigers had been successful over the Giants.
However on a perfect autumn Sunday afternoon at Waratahs the Tigers put an end to the Giants winning streak with a hard fought 1 point victory 6.5.41 - 6.4.40.
The game was free flowing with both teams moving the ball well. Joe Armstrong, playing in the forward line this week, provided a good target and made the most of his opportunities kicking the first goal of the game. Nick Warburton kicked the next goal and the Tigers looked to be on their game.
However the Giants quickly steadied and booted the next two goals to level the score at quarter time at 13-all.
The second and third quarters were similar with both teams trading goals. Ike Dean and Rowan McFarlane were winning a lot of ball for the Tigers around the ground.
Max Desborough and Angus Barnes were provided the run and carry down the wings, while down back Daniel Parker and Dominic Gibson were having great games in defence. At three quarter time the Tigers held a one-point lead.
The Tigers started the last quarter well but could not convert a couple of early opportunities.
Midway though the quarter the Tigers lifted their tackle pressure and forced a turnover which enabled another forward thrust.
This time the ball landed safely in the hands of Joe Armstrong who went back and calmly slotted the goal to put the Tigers seven points up. The Giants were not done and threw everything at the Tigers and with a couple of minutes remaining kicked a goal to narrow the margin to a single point again.
The last few minutes provided some of the best footy of the day and the crowd were on the edge of their seats. Finally the siren blew and the Tigers had held on to record their first win of the year by the narrowest margin.
