Ashleigh and Cody Draper were scheduled for a routine birth in Orange hospital, but baby Clyde had other ideas.
The newborn entered the world on an ambulance bed after paramedics and parents realised he wasn't waiting for the drive to Orange.
The Draper's two sons Jacob 4-years-old and Fletcher 3-years-old sat in the ute outside the hospital, while their dad called through the door to nursing staff inside.
"I knocked on the door and called out 'my wife is having a baby out here,'" Mr Draper said.
The team of nurses took charge of the birth, which took less than an hour and a half from when Mrs Draper woke with contractions that morning.
The birth was assisted by Rosie Blowes, the midwife who delivered the last baby scheduled to be born at the Molong hospital 38-years ago and the last emergency birth which took place 32-years ago.
Paramedic Sally Lapins said her input was minimal, as mum 'Ash' did all the work.
"She was very calm and just knew exactly what she needed to do," Ms Lapins said.
Mrs Draper said while Jacob's birth only took 2.5 hours and Fletcher's just 1.5, the latest was "as easy as birth can be".
"I was really lucky, we've got such amazing people that work here," she said.
"For a small little town that's not equipped for births they did an incredible job."
Mrs Draper's mum Jenny Brown said the incident is proof that with more young families moving to Molong for affordable housing, there's a need to reopen the maternity facility.
