The former Orange CYMS winger produced a typically powerhouse display for his new club at Tom Clyburn Oval on Saturday, helping the Tigers into the top five, albeit on a six points to join a log-jam of four sides currently battling it out for three spots behind runaway competition leaders Trundle and Manildra.
Rob Burn kicked the hosts out to an early 2-0 lead and with Cargo unable to hold on to the ball, the black and golds took advantage, Tupou scoring an early brace through some feeble Blue Heelers defence.
Blake Wilson also crossed for Canowindra as the Tigers raced to a 16-0 lead before Anthony Redfern's Cargo outfit pegged one back through young winger Tray Lucas, his an impressive individual effort out wide to bring the margin back to 12 points at the break.
Despite Cargo battling injury, Dudley Shillingworth ensured the visitors kicked off the second half in style and his try cut Canowindra's lead to 16-8.
But that was as good as it got for the Heelers, who welcomed new prop Terawhiti Cooper to the fold.
The right boot of Burn kicked the score along to 18-8 and despite losing Nathan Whatman to the sin bin for 10 minutes the Tigers held firm, scoring late to wrap up a 22-8 victory and earn bragging rights over the neighbouring Blue Heelers.
Meanwhile, Trundle maintained its unbeaten record at Molong, running riot over the Bulls in a performance that has the Cup community looking ahead to a round six grand final rematch with the also undefeated Manildra Rhinos.
The Boomers won 42-10 at the Dr Ross Memorial Ground at Molong while Manildra was equally ruthless in a 62-12 thrashing of the last-placed Condobolin Rams.
The two undefeated sides square off for the first time since the Boomers won the 2018 premiership at Berryman Oval, Trundle in round six.
Peak Hill made it two straight wins with a commanding 52-20 win over Eugowra. Grenfell enjoyed the bye.
In league tag, Cargo remains undefeated with a 38-4 win over Canowindra, Peak Hill scored win number one for 2019 with a 36-12 triumph over Eugowra, Condobolin also remains unbeaten after a tight 12-4 victory over Manildra and Molong picked up a 16-14 win against Trundle. Grenfell had the bye.
And in youth league, Cargo continues to set the pace with a 32-30 triumph over Grenfell in a top game at Canowindra. Molong won 36-16 over Trundle and Manildra had the bye.
