Since some (other) people occasionally neglect their obligations to their old ladies, the Mother's Day weekend provides the perfect (redemption) opportunity to do something special.
With this in mind, here's my top 5:
1. Treat your mum to a three-course dinner and BYO bubbly
While not strictly on Mother's Day, the Nile Street Cafe will invite mums and their offspring into the cafe for dinner the night before.
For $60, mums, aspiring mums and everyone who knows a mum can sit down to three-courses, with the option to BYO whatever it is you drink.
Call the crew at Nile Street to book: (02) 6363 1991
2. Take mum (and dad) for a bento box at Raku
Sunday lunches are no longer just about mum's roast.
Blow your special lady's mind with Japanese fair so good she'll forgive you for being a teenage brat.
Raku Izakaya will serve special Mother's Day bento boxes created by Chef Ju for $38.50 per person.
To book your bento call: 0478 759 050
3. Treat mum to a traditional high tea at Heidi's
Heidi's Flower Field has set up some special events in the short time they've been opened in East Orange.
Mother's Day looks to be no different, with three high-tea sessions available on Sunday.
Adults will pay $65 and children will pay $25, for a two hour session from 9am, 11:30am and 2pm.
The price includes delicious high-tea, a glass of bubbly on arrival and a pot of tea or coffee.
To book call: 6387 9343
4. Take mum to a seafood and sparkling session at The Oriana
Just because mum lives in the Central West it doesn't mean she shouldn't eat fresh seafood.
The Oriana will run a special afternoon soiree for mums from 4-7pm.
A $90 ticket includes oysters, mussels and prawns - with free flow French champagne, Aperol Spritz and selected wines.
To book call: (03) 6362 3066
5. Footy mums and friends invited to ladies day at Emus
The Orange Emus Rugby Club have invited female friends and supporters to join them for ladies day.
From 12:30pm on Saturday, footy fans are invited for cocktails and canapes at the clubhouse.
Musician Sophie Kate will perform and there'll even be a bit of rugby.
The day will mark the first local derbies of the 2019 season, with the women's competition in the evening.
Tickets are $20 or free for player's mums and those who donated to the Emus or Orange-City's annual blood drive.
