However, magistrate David Day said the most serious offence he was sentencing Matthew McKeller, 21, of Bundarra Place, for was attempting to steal a white Ford Falcon ute from Adina Crescent.
"He was attempting to steal it and he was disturbed when he did," Mr Day said.
McKellar and his co-accused were interrupted by the ute's owner at 1.30am on December 11 and although they ran, McKellar's DNA was found on a beanie and pair of scissors that were left at the scene, while his co-accused also left a beanie behind.
He stole $300 worth of jewellery, including two sterling silver medical alert bracelets and a charm bracelet, which had belonged to the dead wife of the car's owner.
In another matter, on March 7, McKellar was captured on CCTV entering a car in daylight outside the Ophir Hotel after a window had been left ajar and he slipped his arm inside to unlock it.
He stole $300 worth of jewellery, including two sterling silver medical alert bracelets and a charm bracelet, which had belonged to the dead wife of the car's owner.
He was also jailed for being a passenger in a silver Suzuki Swift that was stolen from a garage in Nicole Drive at 2.25pm on March 18, and a Holden Colorado that was stolen from Bourke about 4.45pm on March 17 but was found in Orange.
He has been in custody since he was arrested on March 20 when police found him at a house in Katoa Place where they had located another stolen car, a Mazda 3 that had also been taken on March 18, this time from a garage in Whitney Place.
McKellar was also given to jail sentences for failing to comply with reporting obligations after he was released from Bathurst Correctional Facility on December 3, 2018.
Solicitor John Song said McKellar experienced several periods of homelessness during the offending, he had "essentially given up on life" and had been exposed to drug abuse while growing up.
"He was unfortunately heavily using drugs as well," Mr Song said.
The jail terms were back-dated to March 20 and were combined to form a total three-year sentence with 18-months to be served without parole until September 19, 2020. He is to take part in drug rehabilitation and treatment on parole.
He was also given a two-year community correction order, requiring he abstain from drug use, for possession of a car key, which was believed to have been stolen from the Whitney Place garage, and a watch.
