Water experts from all over NSW will descend on Orange this week for the Water Industry Operators Association of Australia's Ixom Best Tasting Tap Water competition.
Orange won the title in 2015, and has the chance to reclaim its title when judging is held on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Mayor Reg Kidd said he was expecting Orange to do well in the annual conference.
"Orange won the state-wide prize a few years back and I'm confident our water team are going to go well again this year," Cr Kidd said.

"Awards like this are an encouragement to our water team members to work professionally and keep developing as a team."
Cr Kidd said there would also be competitions for council workers.
"As well as the water contest, there'll be a bit of fun for our crews that are called in to fix a break in a water pipe at all hours of the day of night," he said.
While the competition itself is all in the spirit of good fun there is a meaningful undertone to it, recognising the hard work of those who ensure safe, clean drinking water is available to us, every day.
Winners will be announced on Wednesday.
