A single ticket that matched all six Powerball numbers was sold in a petrol station near Milwaukee, lottery officials said after Wednesday's draw,
The winner has not come forward yet, Wisconsin Lottery Director Cindy Polzin said.
The lucky ticket holder or holders can collect the winnings in annual payments over 29 years or as a lump sum estimated at $US477m ($A674m) before taxes, officials said.
States receive a percentage of lottery ticket sales and use the money to support public schools or to meet other needs.
Under Wisconsin law, the winner or winners can't remain anonymous and have 180 days to claim the prize. Otherwise the ticket is worthless.
The jackpot surpassed the $US600m ($A848m) mark for the fourth time in history last week for the price of a $US2 ($A2.8) ticket.
This week's draw nudged into third place when it topped the $US758m Powerball total in August 2017.
