The club intends to close the pool at the end of April due to the cost of upgrades, running costs and employing lifeguards.
The petition against the decision was presented to the board at a meeting on Monday.
Member Roslyn McGroder wrote to chairman Graham Gentles, saying she stopped using Orange Aquatic Centre due to regular "pool fouling" and squad training taking up several lanes.
"Yes, she [the Ex-Services' pool] is old and has not had a lot of upkeep and maintenance done, but she works [and] is a haven to me," she said.
A club spokeswoman said a response would be directed to the representative who presented the petition.
"There is nothing more to say on the matter until Orange City Council completes their assessment of the leasing arrangement," she said.
The club has offered the council a $1 a year lease for 10 years.
