But the club's 2019 efforts off the field began last weekend.
The two blues hosted the club's first community gala day, an event that drew nearly 150 players, family, supporters and juniors to Brendon Sturgeon Oval.
The club held a mini-touch football carnival for mixed teams to take part in, but Hawks premier league assistant coach Bobby Wykamp said the touch footy was secondary to the real emphasis of the day.
“We really want to get everyone involved," Wykamp said.
"Let supporters meet players and their families so when they're walking down the street there's more of a community feel, help create that club culture Hawks has been working hard on for a few years now."
Wykamp said the day was a huge success.
“It's great to create a bit of interest in the club," he added.
“The season’s not far away. Training is going well, we've got good numbers and the majority of our first grade team is back with a few additions."
Hawks will take a squad of 30 players to take on the Coogee Dolphins on Saturday.
“We'll play that game and the Bathurst knockout as well and those will be our trials. We'll ramp up our training over the next month as well," he added.
The club will begin training on Tuesday and Thursday as of next week at Anzac Park, Wykamp said any prospective players are welcome to join the Hawks club.
The two blues will field five grades in 2019 - under 18s league tag, under 18s, league tag, first division and premier league.
