However, since Boxing Day, the 50-year-old has been training to take part in the marathon in the Orange Running Festival this Sunday.
While it started as his own personal challenge, Mr Scott said he's now using the event as a chance to "practice what you preach".
"I teach students from years 3-6, so eight to 10 year olds, I talk about growth mindsets and pushing yourself to do something different," he said.
Mr Scott won't be competing alone, with 15 of the school's students also taking part in the 2km and 5km events over the weekend.
He is also raising money to fund another wall for the school's covered play area to help improve the space for winter.
The fundraiser was added on the side as an opportunity to be taken, but also as another way to ensure he didn't back out of the event.
However, he concedes there are still nerves, with injuries and the full distance posing an issue.
