With his Yanco Agricultural High School side defending 151 in their opening game of Wednesday's Riverina Combined High Schools Twenty20 Gala Day Manildra's Jock Yelland had a simple plan with the new ball - full and straight.

The 16-year-old, left-arm tearaway executed that perfectly and reaped the rewards, in a big way.
Yelland finished with ridiculous figures of 9-2 from his four overs - which including a hat-trick and three wicket maidens - to decimate Narrandera's chase and help skittle them for just 15 in reply, with eight of their bats getting ducks.
As his plan, which buys into the classic and somewhat cliche 'he misses, you hit' concept, suggests, he almost completely did it on his own too, clean bowling seven of his nine victims.
"I was a bit of a fluke," Yelland, an Orange City junior known as Mr Cricket around the school, said.
"I just tried to put it on the spot and kept on hitting the stumps to get a bit of a roll on."
The rout kicked-off when Yelland drew an edge to younger brother Max at first slip with the first ball of the innings, before he produced a triple-wicket maiden in his second over.
He had 4-0 through those two sets but had been denied a hat-trick in his second set. He'd take his chance not long after though, snaring a wicket with the last ball of his third over and the first two of his fourth.
He actually picked up four wickets in his fourth and final over, his eighth and ninth scalps of the innings coming from his final two balls.
Sadly, with his spell over, he wasn't able to have a crack at taking all 10 of Narrandera's scalps, with Josh Elworthy (1-1) picking up the final wicket just five balls later to secure the 136-run victory.

"He bowled really well from the start," Yanco coach Nathan Cassilles, who couldn't have been more impressed, said.
"It's the best I've seen him bowl and he just kept putting it on the stumps, kept taking wickets and putting pressure on the rest of Narrandera. You couldn't ask for much more."
Although Yelland once again played a massive role Yanco wasn't able to back that massive win up in their second encounter at Narrandera, going down to Murrumbidgee.
Yelland picked up his 10th wicket of the day as his side skittled their rivals for just 56, but then they they were rolled too.
Yelland was the only one to put any real resistance, finishing unbeaten on 38 in the chase as his side, incredibly, fell one run short.
Yelland is amid a strong summer otherwise too, having represented Leeton District Cricket Association, Murrumbidgee Cricket Council and then Riverina at the Bradman Cup, Country Cricket NSW's under-16 championship, as well.
