THE limited access to the 50-metre pool at Orange Aquatic Centre because of school swimming carnivals will continue in the next two weeks as the last of Orange’s schools require exclusive daytime use of the outdoor pool.

Swimming carnivals for primary and secondary schools have taken precedence over public access in the last fortnight, with some of the younger classes also requiring intermittent use of the indoor pools.
Scheduled carnivals included St Mary’s Catholic Primary School on Monday, Orange Anglican Grammar School (Tuesday), Calare Public School (Thursday), Orange Public School (Tuesday, February 19), and Orange High School (Friday, February 22).
For the duration of the scheduled carnivals, public access to the outdoor pool is not permitted between 9am and 3pm.
Orange City Council’s Manager of Corporate and Community relations Nick Redmond said “Orange’s swimming community is happy to make space in their swimming routines” for the annual carnivals”.
“The once-a-year opportunity to compete against your classmates, and cheer for your school house is a fantastic part of Orange’s sporting traditions,” he said.
