The representative side included players from West Wyalong to Bathurst and competed at all levels of the CCL last year.
However, the decision to allow individual clubs which fell under the jurisdiction of the Reds to send their own sides to the CCL – such as Orange and Bathurst sending their own under-14 sides instead of supplying players to the Reds – left the representative sides weaker.
In a statement posted on Facebook the side confirmed it wouldn’t be heading to the CCL in 2019.
“We are looking into alternative avenues to continue the development of Basketball in the Western Region,” it said.
“We appreciate all the support received over the last five years.
“The program has helped progress many elite athletes over this time who are incredibly proud of our little part in the ongoing journeys.”
The Reds will aim to re-enter the CCL in 2020.
