Jerica and Sewil Reyes and their seven-year-old son Sanjiro Reyes came from Manila in the Philippines and said they enjoyed the work life balance in Australia and “no worries” attitude.
“It’s a lot busier than here so this is a nice change,” Mrs Reyes said.
The family’s youngest child, three-year-old Jasmine, who was born in Australia, is already a citizen.
“We’ve been here six years now and we have loved the opportunities this country has given us,” Mrs Reyes said.
She said they lived in Orange the whole time they’ve been in Australia and she initially came here to complete a bridging course for nursing but she initially had to leave her husband and then six-month-old son Sanjiro in the Philippines for nine months.
Other new citizens who took part in the ceremony came from Bangladesh, the United Kingdom, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Kenya, Germany and Zimbabwe.
