Organised by JAM Orange, it brings together Scandinavian band Fru Skagerrak, guitarist Liam Gerner and Orange’s Amy Stevens, as Amy Viola, who is creating new sounds with the viola.
President Paul Kelly said the venue at Bloomfield hospital was ideal for the show.
“It’s a wonderful hall to put concerts on at. It’s got wonderful acoustics,” he said.
“You wouldn’t think it exists in Orange. It’s almost an art deco building. It’s got a wonderful stage that slopes to the front.”
“This is our fourth festival. We insist on the Saturday or the Sunday of this weekend,” he said.
Mr Kelly said the three acts provided a range of styles and musical tastes.
“[Concert-goers] are going to hear music that is something Central West audiences are not use to,” he said.
He said Fru Skagerrak offered “upbeat, almost dance music”, Liam Gerner a taste of Americana while Amy Viola was “exploring more experimental” music.
Doors open at 5pm ahead of the concert from 6.30pm-10pm with food and drinks on sale.
You can buy tickets ($25) at Landers Music, online at www.festivalofsmallhalls.com and at the door.
