Backing up Monday’s reasonably comfortable, 30-run win over South Coast, North West Sydney trounced the Warriors at Jack Brabham 2 on 2019 tournament’s second day, eventually winning by eight wickets in a simple chase.
The result was Blacktown’s second defeat of the tournament after dropping their opening clash to Wagga Wagga, and rules them out of grand final contention.

As he was on day one, Debasis Dey was the star of the show for North West Sydney, taking his second five-wicket haul in as many days to inspire the victory.
He snared 5-20 from 10 overs against the South Coast and picked up even better figures of 5-5 from almost nine overs on Tuesday, helping skittle Blacktown for just 75.
That gives him incredible tournament figures of 10-25 through the opening two days, which equates to a ridiculous average of 2.5 and an even more obscene strike rate of 11.1.
North West Sydney made light work of the chase, Aditya Dhond finishing with an unbeaten 37 at better than a run-a-ball as his side needed just 16 overs to knock the target off.
Wagga Wagga, ACT Blue and Penrith are all also undefeated through two days, they knocked off South Coast, Mitchell and Dubbo respectively on day two.
Wagga’s win was an absolute thriller too, coming down to the final wicket and the final over.
South Coast, led by Zane Mitchell’s 41, posted 128. Based on Wagga knocking up 7-217 on day one, most expected the Riverina-based side to ease home.
Instead they needed all but two balls and all of their 11 bats to get there, it almost didn’t happen too.
They were 5-38 in reply before James Currie (22) and Patrick Cooke (32 not out) added 33 for the sixth wicket, but even so Wagga still fell to be 9-112.
It took a nervy, unbeaten, 17-run, 10th wicket stand from Cooke and Jesse Dohl (2 not out) to get their side home with just two balls to spare.
On day two of the girls’ tournament a phenomenal, unbeaten 95 from ACT skipper Clare Levings led the two-time defending champions to a second straight win.
Levings, who belted 31 not out in her side’s day one victory as well, was a rock at Kinross Main Oval after coming in at 2-21, smashing 12 fours and one maximum as her side posted 4-180 from their 40 overs.
She looked a chance to reach her maiden century – her previous best was 94 – as she sat on 94 going into the final over but thanks to some superb death bowling from Shree Swarup (1-5) she didn’t quite get to triple figures.
Nonetheless the innings was an excellent one, and Levings was deservedly tunneled off by her stoked teammates, before the side restricted Penrith to 95 in reply.
In Tuesday’s other girls’ games, Western’s Invitational XI (81) was beaten by Gordon Blue (1-82) and Western Zone (6-109) knocked off Gordon Red (101) in a thrilling affair.
Due to the extreme heat forecast on Wednesday and Thursday, the start times have been moved to 8am in a bid to avoid the sweltering conditions as much as possible.
