Orange City face, potentially, several weeks without tearaway quick Jackson Coote after he succumbed to injury last weekend, one that ultimately played a huge role in their Orange District Cricket Association loss to Cavaliers.

Coote has been somewhat plagued by back problems in recent seasons and has, largely, managed to not miss too much cricket but with his final ball of Saturday’s warm-up the issue reared its ugly head in a big way.
The Western Zone left-armer was left all but incapacitated by what has now been diagnosed as a severe muscle strain, forcing him to withdraw from the round nine clash at the 11th hour and leaving the Warriors without their spearhead.
Although Orange City still boasted a strong attack Cavaliers piled on 7-249 at Riawena Oval, with the Warriors limping to just 132 in reply.
Frustratingly, Coote says, it’s an injury that has no definite time-frame in terms of recovery.
“The doc said it could be two weeks or it could be six,” the former NSW Country colt lamented.
“Because bowling is such a quick, sudden movement and back injuries are obviously the worst for that it’s one you can’t push either.
“There’s actually not much I can so in terms of recovery right now because I’m pretty restricted movement-wise.”
With Coote set to be sidelined, Warriors’ skipper Ed Morrish may be forced to call on the club’s lower grade pace stocks, with Dylan Caughlan and Harry Edwards among the candidates.
