Cowra-born Adam Hyeronimus is backing two-year-old Unite And Conquer’s speed to get the job done at this week’s Gold Coast Magic Millions meet, despite a potentially difficult lane draw.

“The horse is a go-forward horse, it’s got brilliant gate speed,” Hyeronimus said, Unite And Conquer drawn wide at barrier 18.
“Although we’ve drawn out wide it’s not too much of a concern, because if he does nix the start or something happens, then we’ve still got that opportunity to race up on the speed that he likes to race.
“If he nixed the start on the inside gate, he probably gets crossed and ends up in a position that he probably wouldn’t like to be in.”
The 1200-metre race, exclusive to two-year-olds sold through the Magic Millions program, has $2 million worth of prize money attached.

It presents a huge opportunity for Hyeronimus, who has ridden Unite And Conquer to two wins from two starts for Randwick trainers Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott.
“He’s showed good ability from a very early age, and he hasn’t let anyone down to date … and keeps improving well,” the Sydney-based jockey, who is riding in two races this Saturday, said.
“I’ve ridden a number of good horse that haven’t got the opportunities due to different reasons but Saturday’s probably my big chance to win on a two-year-old, [a breed] which Gai is very well known for training.”
Should the horse do well on Saturday, Hyeronimus is optimistic that it will open up the opportunity for a potential Golden Slipper run.
Unite And Conquer will start in race eight of the Gold Cast meet, jumping at 5pm AEDST.
