I understand that no business wants a public toilet, with all its unpleasant smells and vandalism, situated outside their front door. However, there is a possible solution that, as far as I am aware, has not been considered.

There are already public toilets in the visitor's centre/museum building. There are also men's and women's facilities outside the entrance to the library and art gallery. These facilities, already accepted by the community, could be extended.

Also as you walk up the paved forecourt leading to these buildings there is an area of grass and shrubs to the west of the paving behind Orange City Council chambers.

Between the council chambers building and the grassy area is a small car park. If three or four parking spaces were to be removed there would be sufficient room to erect a new toilet block.

With a small amount of green screening it would not be obvious from the street and would not detract from the open space of the forecourt.

Isn't this an area we are trying to funnel visitors into? What better way to attract people than to provide a decent clean toilet facility close to the other attractions of the area.
