Eisteddfod publicity officer Meredie Wright said the money was raised by people dropping coins into a bucket but some entrants donated their $5 or $10 prize money.
“One of the big donations was put in from a dance school from Canberra, the Lisa Clark Dance Centre, and the principal put in their $320 [prize money],” Mrs Wright said.
Mrs Wright said it was the first time donation buckets were set up at the eisteddfod and the committee wanted to do something different to other drought fundraisers being run in Orange so the money was given to the CWA drought campaign to help farming families.
