The energy provider released a statement on Monday, which said power was restored to all impacted north Orange properties by 9.32pm.

Essential Energy regional manager northern Mark Summers said to ensure the safety of the public and their property electricity network protection equipment automatically switched power off after detecting a problem.

“Our crews worked as quickly as safety allowed to locate the problem, make repairs and then restore power for customers,” Mr Summers said.

“Some customers may have seen power go on and off several times as crews worked to determine the location of the fault.”

The fault was located at the northern end of Anson Street.

“Once the location of the fault was determined, crews worked to reroute the electricity network around the fault and power was progressively restored to all affected customers between 8.11pm and 9.32pm,” Mr Summers said.

Essential Energy crews will undertake an inspection of the faulty section of electricity network this week and will then organise for repairs to be completed so that the network can be returned to its normal configuration.

“We apologise for any inconvenience and thank customers for their understanding as we worked to restore power,” Mr Summers said.
