Ability Links Team Leader Margi Garretty spoke about the way the state funded program links clients with disabilities and their families, as well as vulnerable people, to their community to help them fulfill their goals.
Ms Garretty said this can involve help to fill out forms or make and attend appointments, with the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) creating a challenge for some people.
“With NDIS there’s quite a few people trying to navigate a new system and it can be quite confusing,” she said.
From an office on Dalton Street, the team work with people of all backgrounds to help them access services like Centrelink and psychologists, or assist with tasks like getting a license or finding a place to live.
Ms Garretty said it’s not just people on NDIS that can access their services and the disability expo at PCYC gave them the chance to get their message out there.
