WEDNESDAY 12.30PM:
EMERGENCY services are responding to reports of a gyrocopter crash and fire near Orange Airport.
Police, Fire and Rescue NSW and NSW Rural Fire Service were called to the incident at a private property near the corner of Forest Road and Aerodrome Road at about midday.
The small helicopter is believed to have caught fire and two people are believed to have suffered serious injuries.
It is unclear whether the aircraft was inbound or outbound at the time of the incident.
The incident is the second in the vicinity of the airport this year after a trainee pilot crashed a plane in May and the occupants suffered burns.
More to come.
