A 36-year-old man has been arrested and charged with robbery using an offensive weapon after allegedly threatening a supermarket attendant with an advertising sign.

Police allege the Forbes man was walking down Lords Place at 3.45pm on Monday when he stole an advertising stand from a business in the street and used the stand he was carrying to damage a vehicle.
Central West Police District’s Inspector Peter Atkins said the man carried the stand to the Supa IGA supermarket in Peisley Street.

At the supermarket he allegedly used the stand to threaten a supermarket attendant and demanded tobacco.
He was also alleged to have assaulted the employee by pushing them.
The man was arrested by police and was refused bail to appear in Orange Local Court on Tuesday.
In addition to the robbery charge, the man was also charged with malicious damage for damage to the vehicle and assault for pushing the supermarket employee.
