A man will face court on Friday after being extradited from South Australia in relation to a 1997 fatal crash in the Central West.

On Thursday, January 16, 1997 a Holden Commodore sedan and an Izuzu pantech collided near the intersection of Tilga and Ferguson streets in Canowindra.
A 21-year-old man, travelling in the back of the Commodore, died at the scene.
Two outstanding First Instance Warrants were issued at Cowra Local Court on March 6, 1997 after a man failed to appear to answer charges of dangerous driving occasioning death and negligent driving occasioning death.
A review of the investigation was conducted this year by the Crash Investigation Unit, culminated in officers travelling to South Australia on Wednesday to seek the extradition of a now 39-year-old man.
On Thursday the 39-year-old man was returned to NSW and charged by virtue of the outstanding first instance warrants.
He was refused bail prior to his appearance in Central Local Court.
