Four members of Orange’s Faculty of Science administration team raised $220 through cake sales for the Bloomfield Hospital facility, which provides accommodation for families while their loved ones receive treatment.
The continued support from the Central West region is just amazing and we’re really grateful
- Kellie Hughes
The fundraiser was part of a cross-campus initiative which involved administrators Karyn Snare, Renai McArdle, Liefel Moult and Judy Stone in Orange, as well as their counterparts in Bathurst and Wagga Wagga.
Mrs Stone said the Leeds Parade university has a close connection to the house, which she volunteers at fortnightly, and which Head of Campus Heather Robinson is a board member of.
“They truly rely on funding and it’s such a worthy cause,” Mrs Stone said.
“A lot of these people are coming from remote areas and they need somewhere to stay at a reasonable cost.”
The Wagga science faculty raised $500, which will go towards its Ronald McDonald House, while CSU’s Bathurst raised $300, which will be added to the Orange tally.
House Manager Kellie Hughes said $520 would pay for a family to stay at the facility for three nights.
“The continued support from the Central West region is just amazing and we’re really grateful,” she said.
More than 440 families have benefited from the house since it opened in April, 2015.
