The boys’ and girls’ youth teams have been travelling to Sydney to take part in the cup over the past three months and have been rewarded finals berths.
The girls’ side finished in fourth in their eight-team competition and face off against Northern Beaches on Friday night at Bankstown.
They’ll be leaning on the leading try-scorer in the competition, Hailey Prestwidge, who will be playing alongside her twins Caitlin and Rebecca.
The triplets and centre Sophie Banks are the leading lights for the side according to Thunder’s Joel Begnell, whereas the boys’ side scoring hopes are led by Rhys French, who’s second on the try-scorers’ table.
They take on Hills District on Friday night.
Begnell said the competition had proved a fantastic chance for juniors to play at a “really high standard” during the touch off-season.
“It’s been a great opportunity for out most talented juniors to get out there and improve,” he said.
“It’s been a big investment for the club and from kids and parents to get down to Sydney nearly every Friday.”
The next finals games will be next Friday night, with the grand final on Saturday, October 27.
