But compared to the supermarket, shopping for clothes or electronics, people are never quite as annoying as they are at a busy house inspection.
It’s hard to visualise your future home with a dozen random strangers walking around in it, playing on the back porch and poking the bathroom.
Fortunately, through the wonders of technology, we can finally eliminate people from shopping.
So many people are afraid to make decisions when it comes to design for fear of making a mistake.
- Darren Palmer
It’s been done with online shopping, but now virtual reality is giving people the chance to walk through a new home with no-one else in sight.
Celebrity architect from The Block Darren Palmer has created six house house designs which people in Orange have the chance to be the first in Australia to explore through virtual reality.
Mr Palmer is hosting a Facebook Live video on the G.J. Gardner Orange page.
“My design ethos is to make good design accessible for everybody and I’m so excited to have designed a collection that is not only beautiful, but also achievable and accessible for people no matter their budget or where they live in Australia,” Mr Palmer said.
With research showing one in three new home builders felt overwhelmed by the amount of design decisions to be made, Mr Palmer said the collaboration made the building process easier.
“So many people are afraid to make decisions when it comes to design for fear of making a mistake. This can often lead to mismatched, safe choices that don’t encourage cohesiveness in design throughout the home,” he said.
Fiona Bouffler and Jake Hurford, owners of G.J. Gardner Homes Orange said the exclusive range would be revealed at their office at 113 Peisley Street, with locals the first in Australia to see the full designs through special immersive 3D tours.
“Having a house designed by a leading designer like Darren is no longer a dream for new home builders thanks to this collaboration. Our amazing screens provide the technology to allow people to virtually walk through each of the home designs,” Mr Hurford said.
