St Pat’s will take on the Macquarie Valley-based champions Parkes at Carrington Park on Sunday, for the right to labelled Western’s best league tag outfit.
The two played each other earlier in the season at the Canowindra League Tag Carnival, but that was way back in March.
“They’ll be a pretty handy side. They’re quick all over the park and they’ll be very hard to be beat,” St Pat’s coach Mick Armstrong said of the Spacecats, before praising the concept.
“I think it’s a great idea. I think it’s great to challenge to be the best team … out of the two groups. I’m looking forward to the opportunity and I know the girls are too.”
St Pat’s will only have 13 players when they face Parkes on Sunday, which does present a challenge in itself.
“We’ve got a few missing but we’ve still got a pretty handy side,” Armstrong said.
Armstrong isn’t get too ahead of himself, but is feeling confident heading into the game.
“Obviously we’re pretty confident, considering the season we’ve had, but Parkes is a bit of an unknown,” he said.
“You don’t know how they’re going to come out and play.
“I think they only lost one game in their season this year, so they’ll be a quality team.
“I’m confident, but wary of Parkes and what they’re going to offer on the day.”
Kick-off is at 11.50am.
