He was named man of the match in the decider, too – sending home one goal from a cross in after a free kick.
You’d think that would earn you unquestioning praise and celebration from your teammates, wouldn’t you?
Not from the Waratahs, according to Sudgen himself.
“I usually miss a lot more than I score so the boys give me stick about that but I had shots go in over finals,” he said.
“It’s good to get the personal achievement but the win made it so much sweeter.”
He said he wasn’t sure what had sparked the run of form – “maybe luck?” – but has been enjoying celebrating after the win.
“It’s been brilliant – I got home at 11.00pm Monday night so we definitely celebrated all weekend,” he said.
