The clash of the 3rd and 4th placed teams on the ladder drew a capacity crowd to Millthorpe’s Redmond Oval.
Both sides had their early chances but it was Barnstoneworth striker Glenn Harpley who opened the scoring with a strike from a tight angle following a deft pass from midfielder Peter Sharpe.
Barnstoneworth made it 2-0 at the half time break when Andy Holmes struck well following a precision delivery from Nick Mastrangeli.
Barnstoneworth hit the ground running with a goal scored 12 seconds after the whistle blew to re-start the second half. Millthorpe lost the ball from the kick off and when Andy Holmes struck from long range, it skidded under the outstretched arms of the Millthorpe keeper.
Facing a 3-0 deficit, and strong defence from Jason Ingham, Mick Carpenter and Andy Maguire, Millthorpe kept themselves in the game when Roy Davis lobbed a long-range bomb over keeper Ewan Powell’s head to peg one pack.
Harpley finished the job with his second of the day again coming with the help of some great midfield build up from Brett Hazard and Shane Dollery, to seal the 4-1 win.
Playing at their home ground, Waratahs were looking to extend their unbeaten streak when they took on Brighouse on Saturday.
Brighouse started well, before Tahs left winger Chris Kittler sent a bouncing ball across the box to notch his first goal of the season.
Another goal from Matt Duffy put tahs in driving seat before Brighouse stormed back. Midfield maestro Michael Lewis expertly finishing in the box, to hold the margin to 2-1 at half time.
But in the second period the Tahs goals kept coming, with Brazilian star Julio Ceasar shaved the crossbar before burying his next chance.
Coming back from a handball ruling, David Vaughan came back to score, along with Kurt Wolf.
The Brighouse counter-plan to upset the Waratahs rhythm by trying three different keepers, eventually paid off with a 20 minute clean sheet by Liam Dillon.
The 6-1 victory for a quality Waratahs was much deserved but Brighouse's fourth goal of the season through Lewis was the talk of the post-match sheds.
