‘Arnie’, also known as ‘The Roid ‘Roo’, also known as ‘Ty-Roo-Nosaurus Rex’, is a well know visitor to south Orange’s streets.
Just last week he was snapped in Grevillea Street, not far from Orange hospital, Orange Ex-Services’ Country Club golf course, and the TAFE campus, all of which have housed communities of kangaroos for a many years.
But it appears the unquestioned leader of the pack is not longer content to confine himself to the southern quadrant of the city, with Central Western Daily reader Nick Willox taking this photo of the fine specimen (and his comparatively diminutive mate) at the cemetery in East Orange on the weekend.
“This ‘roo is an absolute unit. [He] really stood out in size from his family,” Mr Willox wrote in an email.
Could it be a different kangaroo, or even multiple animals with similarly impressive builds? It’s possible.
But it’s extraordinarily rare for the eastern grey kangaroos – the type found in this region – to grow to such extreme proportions, so there’s a very good chance ‘Ulu-Roo’ (last one, we promise) is one of a kind.
