Millthorpe is known not only for its historic main street, but also its frequent dustings of snow, which are, in their own way, an attraction.

To celebrate both the cold and the streetscape, Pym Street will be the centre of attention on Friday August 3, when the inaugural Orange Winter Fire Festival is launched with a food and wine market.
Instead of the usual hungry hordes descending on Robertson Park in Orange, Pym Street will be lined with stalls offering delights from around the region.
Organised by Orange 360, which promotes tourism in Orange, Blayney and Cabonne, the event is also being coordinated by the Millthorpe Village Committee, whose president, Sam Yeates, is gearing up for the challenge.
“We’re harking back to community events like cracker night,” he said.
“We’ll have 44-gallon drums alight down the main street and we’re also currently working on a suitable location for a fireworks display.”
Entry will be by gold coin donation.
