The management consultant is developing Orange Travel Buddy, an app allowing travellers to access all attractions and events in Orange at once.
“No one’s aggregating these places together and at the moment, people see one or two places and miss the others,” Mr Murray said.
The app will include a description of each feature, enable users to select their favourites and alert them if they pass by so they can stop and have a look.
Mr Murray hoped to have it ready within the next month and said business owners could get in touch via Instagram to list their restaurants or activities.
GREEN THOUGHTS KEEP ON COMING FOR COFFEE BEAN ROASTERS
AFTER introducing reusable coffee beans containers for customers, Bill Parianos is looking for other ways to cut his carbon footprint.
The director of Orange Roasting Co is introducing machinery allowing cafes to make alternate forms of milk, including almond and rice.
“Almond milk, for example, is mostly imported and 95 per cent of it is water so to import it is ludicrous. The machine makes it quickly and it’s fresh and all you need to transport is dry almonds,” he said.
Mr Parianos said coffee plantations were at serious risk in the next 40 years unless more was done to address climate change or a hybrid plant could be created because plants required certain conditions to produce flowers and fruit.
“Developing a flower into a fruit is a 10-month process and each tree produces one kilo of coffee per annum,” he said.
NEW OWNERS BUT THE SAME FAMILY RUNNING THEIR PATCH
THE Iris Patch Gift Shop has changed hands but will remain in the family.
Adam and Tracey Zylstra took over the business on July 1 after being owned by Mrs Zylstra’s aunt for the past 18 years.
Mr Zylstra said his wife felt like a change after 15 years at her previous job and the opportunity came up.
“Tracey will be running it and I’ll be doing the book work,” he said.
“We’re going to keep it running as it is with a view of going online as well.”
