What is your job description? I design new buildings and alterations with a focus on residential.
What other jobs have you had? I’ve worked in architecture practices and the hospitality industry.
Your training: A bachelor of architecture from the University of Sydney.
Why did you choose this job? I’ve always loved drawing and designing. My job combines these with problem solving. Seeing the end result is very satisfying.
What is the best thing about your job? Seeing my work have a positive impact on people’s homes and businesses.
What is the worst thing? Managing client’s expectations, particularly on timing and budget.
Where do you see yourself in five years? I’d love to design a cellar door.
What advice would you give someone interested in this job as a career? Speak to people in the industry, do some work experience and take every opportunity to get on a building site.
