On Friday member for Orange Philip Donato presented the club’s president Gerard Hannelly with the money as part of a State government grant.
It will be put towards the construction of a pair of training nets costing $50,000 at Norton Park’s north-western corner.
The grant funding to be added to the $15,000 raised by the club, $9,800 from McDonald’s and Cricket Australia, $9,000 from Orange City Council, $4,000 from Western Zone Cricket and $2,000 Mitchell Cricket Council.
Mr Donato said the money would help the club provide “necessary infrastructure to support participation and membership” in the seasons ahead.
“Congratulations to CYMS. I look forward to have a session in nets with you when the project is complete,” he said.
The nets make up the second stage of the club’s plans at the south Orange location, the initial $15,000-project of a synthetic pitch being funded and built last year.
Looking ahead, the club has plans to add a further two practice nets and an amenities block, which is unlikely to be completed before 2025.
The facility will be named in honour of Jack Moroney, a former Australian and CYMS representative.
