The Orange Art Society member is legally blind in her left eye, has limited vision in her right eye but can paint by getting close to the canvas.
“I don’t use an easel very often because it’s too far away,” she said.
Ms Fitzsimmon said she took up painting after being made redundant from her job, her vision impairment affected her prospects of getting a new job and she needed a creative outlet.
“I just paint because I need to,” she said.
She said she was told about the calendar competition by Vision Australia staff after going in to get help using a new phone and her artwork was one of 13 to be selected from 50 entries.
Ms Fitzsimmons artworks Twitter 1 and Twitter 2 are on exhibition at the Orange Art Society until July 8.
The calendar will be released in September and can be purchased at the Orange Vision Australia office in Prince Street or online at shop.visionaustralia.org.
