For two days, two venues will host both technology enthusiasts and experts for seminars touching on a variety of topics from tracking your cats while your at work to how the digitalisation of industry will change the job landscape.
The Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak, along with Destination NSW and Orange City Council are responsible for bringing the show to Orange.
Rotary Group’s Murray Patterson said the expo was to give the region a “technology boost”.
“People travel here for the food and wine industry and we want to make sure there are jobs in the technology industries to encourage them to stay,” he said.
While the expo’s focus might be on all things modern and digital, Mr Patterson said it is not designed for “tech heads” only.
“We wanted to ensure all people were capable of using digital technology in their everyday lives,” he said.
Rotary’s Mary Brell is coordinating the education aspect of the expo at James Sheahan Catholic High School next Friday.
“It’s a chance for schools to demonstrate what they’re capable of doing with technology, a glimpse of what the kids of the future will strive towards, as well as a chance for teachers to learn from teachers,” she said.
Mrs Brell said, in addition to the education component, Friday will focus on the agricultural landscape of the future, with speakers from the Department of Agriculture and Industry giving presentation to share their knowledge.
Mr Paterson said Saturday will focus on a wide variety of topics.
“From data security, to how the NBN can best be used to how to most efficiently use energy in your home,” he said.
The expo will run June 22-24 at the Orange Function Centre and James Sheahan Catholic High School.
