WEDNESDAY, 2.30PM:

AN operation to remove a burnt-out truck and clean up the Great Western Highway between Bathurst and Lithgow has concluded and the road is now open.

Live Traffic NSW is advising motorists that both eastbound and westbound diversions have been lifted, however there is a reduced speed limit of 80km/h due to road surface damage.

The fire started just before 7am, between Barton Avenue and Sunny Corner Road, near Meadow Flat.

Emergency services were quickly on the scene and motorists were being advised to exercise caution and use an alternative route, with diversions put in place.
