NEW TEST: Young Oberon driver Justin Reynolds will represent Western Districts in the Nicholas Dewar Memorial NSW Rising Stars series.

Reynolds will represent Western Districts in the annual series run by Harness Racing NSW, joining nine others who will battle it out for the honours across five race meetings.

He follows in the footsteps of the likes of siblings Amanda and Mitch Turnbulll, Ashlee Grives and McKayler Barnes in having represented the area.

Since driving the first winner of his career in February last year – getting the job done with Presidential Dude at the Bathurst Paceway – Reynolds has continued to find more success.

As of Friday when he was named alongside Tom Pay as a Western Districts’ representative, Reynolds had driven 10 winners, placed second 11 times and snared eight thirds from his 82 starts so far this season.

He will be keen to add to that tally when the series begins at Young on June 26 and continues with heats at his home track in Bathurst, Bankstown and Newcastle before the finale at Menangle on July 1.

“These young people are the future of our sport and I am certain they recognise the privilege it is to be selected to compete in the series,” HRNSW CEO John Dumesny said.

“The week of activities outside of the race diving will be educational and entertaining for the drivers.

“A significant component however is the opportunity for these Rising Stars to bond in the Series in a sport in which they have a demonstrated passion.”

This year the series is named after the late Nicholas Dewar.
