While Confederates coach Fiona Reith is disappointed her side went down 4-1 to Lithgow Panthers, especially since two of the goals it conceded were “soft”, but she said she’s mindful that it’s still only round two as well.

Confederates’ performances in their season-opening losses have been strong despite the results and with a number of young, inexperienced junior comings through Reith said it was always going to take some time for the outfit to find its feet.
Granted, she says that needs to happen sooner rather than later.
She also said her side – which was down a number of stars – isn’t discouraged by the loss to Lithgow, which was led by Panthers’ sharpshooter Amelia Leard, who potted a hat-trick.
“We didn’t have depth and experience in our ranks to push Panthers all the way,” Reith admitted.
“We let in two soft goals, so that’s something to work on but I think we can take a positive from that in that the scoreline probably didn’t reflect the game.
“We didn’t stop fighting, the effort was awesome and we’re proud of that.
“Our juniors are getting a taste for this level and it’s a long season, so we’ll keep moving forward and trying to improve, and bring the juniors through.”
One of those juniors coming through was Jess Healy, the 13-year-old stepped up to take on the goalkeeper role after Kathryn Cox was ruled out due to illness on Friday night.
“Jess made her debut, she had a blinder, a really amazing game,” Reith said.
