Around 60 kids registered to attend the three-day clinic held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.
This isn’t the first time we’ve had these numbers so it is great to see the interest in tennis continue and to see the enthusiasm shown on all the kids faces.
Beginners as young as four were guided through all the basic rules of tennis and various fun games they can play on the court, while the older and more experienced teenagers played matches.
Prizes of encouragement were awarded on the third and final day to those who not only played well but showed good manners and a willingness to help on the court.
These clinics are held at our complex in Warrendine Street every holidays so for any enquiries please phone the clubhouse on 6262 8020.
The final night of our Hump Day Competition was played on Wednesday.
The ladies’ winner on the night was Janet Davenport and the men’s winner was Andy Cannon.
Players have been contesting this competition for the past 12 weeks and so at the conclusion of the night, scores were tallied up to reveal the highest overall winners.
In the ladies’ section Janet Davenport was declared the winner with 20 sets, closely followed by Chrissie Kjoller on 16 sets and in third place was Elizabeth Grady with 11 sets.
First place in the men’s went to Brett Campbell with 20 sets, second place went to Andy Cannon with 12 sets and third went to Rod Buesnel also on 12 sets.
Both Andy and Rod actually tied but after a countback of games Andy finished with 120 games and Rod 114 games.
A huge thanks to Rod Buesnel who has run this competition each week. We presented him with a gift to show our appreciation.
There will be no tennis played next Wednesday, April 25 because of Anzac Day but the popular Winter Warmers Comp will start up the following Wednesday night, May 2, at an earlier time of 6.30pm.
Names are now being accepted for this competition so any interested players are asked to please phone Chrissie at the clubhouse to register.
The social days are continuing to prove popular.
Every Thursday morning the Ladies gather to enjoy their mornings catch up and Tennis from 9am and at last Sunday’s Mixed Social afternoon there was as always, another good attendance.
Col Parsons was pleased to be drawn out as the lucky winner of the Free Hit voucher and this Sunday Janet Davenport will be the committee person on duty to organise the sets for the afternoon’s play.
All players are welcome to either days.
