On Monday there will be a workshop Story, Scones and Science Fun, which will combine stories, poetry, afternoon tea and technology between 2pm and 4pm.
Central West Libraries reading and writing coordinator Jasmine Vidler said the other event Piano Forte will be of a more serious note.
Held on Thursday between 10.30am and noon it will have an expert panel discussing planning for the future of older people and their families.
It will include representatives from the Seniors Rights Service, Legal Aid NSW, and a panel of seniors’ services who will discuss a range of topics including wills, power of attorney and various decisions people might have to make as they get older.
There will also be a film screening of the play Piano Forte, and some light refreshments.
The play explores issues older people and their families experience when planning for the future.
Following a discussion after the film screening, participants will be able to ask their own questions.
“There’s quite a range of programs targeted to the older age group, the whole program is relevant to the health and well being and lifestyle of seniors who are one of the key groups who come to the library,” Ms Vidler said.
Ms Vidler said the two programs that will be run this week are based on existing seniors’ programs that are run through the library in Orange.
She said although participants have already booked for both events they both have room for more people.
The events are free but bookings should be made through Eventbrite.com.au or call 6393 8132.
