Orange Public School (OPS) students learnt how to support biosecurity in a live television video conference with host of Gardening Australia Costa Georgiadis this week.
Mr Georgiadis was live streamed to schools across the state to introduce students to measures taken to protect our primary industries from pests and disease.
OPS teacher Amanda Tushuizen said TV in the classroom isn’t a very common occurrence, but this learning opportunity was one the students really enjoyed.
“Costa was really engaging and the kids loved seeing themselves on the TV too,” she said.
“It taught them about caring for the environment, which is an important part of their education here.”
Mr Georgiadis is part of a NSW Department of Primary Industries and Department of Education Distance Rural Technologies Connections biosecurity education project.
