The Muslim family, originally from Pakistan, don’t celebrate Christmas as part of their religion – but now they have a real reason to celebrate the date.
Mrs Siddiqui gave birth to daughter Mariam, weighing 3.46 kilograms, at Orange hospital on Christmas Day.
Mrs Siddiqui said they named their daughter partly for the Christmas story of Mary, the mother of Jesus.
“It is Mariam, it is just, we think, Christian as well,” she said.
Mariam has three sisters, Haaniah, 8, Raabiah, 5 and Saara, one.
