According to the school’s science coordinator Les Follent the data will greatly enrich studies in the area of environmental studies.
The Orange Christian School has had an increasing focus on science and STEAM education (science, technology, engineering, art and maths) and has been developing an environmental studies area.
“With assistance from Charles Sturt University, Cadia Valley Operations and the Orange City Council, a field with a small dam is being returned to an ecosystem of native trees and grasses around a billabong,” Mr Follent said.
“This area will be a very valuable asset to the school, and used by classes from K-12 in their nature studies, geography, ecology and other sciences.”
The school recently received a maker project grant to purchase digital and electronic devices to help students design and build electric and solar-powered vehicles.
