“It’s a huge opportunity for Orange to become part of celebrating [same sex] marriages,” she said.
“A lot of people have been travelling overseas.
“Now’s there a place for us to be welcoming.”
Cr McRae said that with direct flights from three capital cities and the area’s attractions there was a ready market.
However, she said she and partner Heather Cameron were not likely to be getting married straight away.
“It’s a really personal decision, it’s something I don’t think will be displayed all over the front page of the paper if we decide to do that.”
Cr McRae said the vote result nationally and in Orange was “really good news.”
